Syed will report to Citi’s chief economist Josh Williamson.
At Moody’s, Syed focused on thematic analysis on macroeconomic issues and country forecasts for Australia, Japan and India. He also led Moody’s research on the Australian housing market.
Prior to Moody’s, Syed worked as a research economist at the Australian Bureau of Agricultural Resources, Economics and Sciences where he was responsible for things like exchange rate forecasting.
Citi Australia/NZ head of research Craig Woolford said client demand for deeper macroeconomic insights was growing, particularly in a low interest rate environment.
“We look forward to Faraz’s experience strengthening our research insights at Citi.”
