Australia's economy in a 'strong position' to 'bounce back'

Business Council of Australia CEO Jennifer Westacott says Australia is in a “stronger position” economically compared to many other countries because it has a “better capacity to bounce back”.

Ms Westacott told Sky News everyone was “pulling their weight” but there was a lot of “uncertainty with a lot of anxiety” over how long the coronavirus pandemic would last.

“The banks are doing an incredible job extending loan payments, extending loan terms, keeping their branches open, being more flexible on credit, people giving leave,” she said.

“We’ve got to get through the next three to six months and that’s about keeping people working and safe.

“There is no doubt we are in an extraordinary position.”
